Club Mission OR ‘Theme’: To improve our town of Shijak through community projects and increased environmental awareness.
Brief summary of a recent activity and/or meeting: Our
little OA club of Shijak has been quite busy lately. We have been
partaking in various activities, from community projects to going on
excursions. Here is a small sampling of what we have been up to:
- OA Shijak and the newly forming OA Kashar went on a camping
trip next to the Durres beach. We enjoyed seeing a new more natural
area of Durres, a leave no trace lesson, and talking by the fire.
- (Attached photograph 3) We enjoy doing the occasional environmental craft, here we are
creating a bird feeder. We use it to learn about what types of birds we
can find in Shijak.
- (Photographs 1&2) To discover a little more about what the environment in
Shijak is like we went out with a frame. We took pictures what we like
about the environment in Shijak by using the green frame, and what we
didn't like about the environment in Shijak using the red frame. We are
hoping to show these to the community and to the mayor so they can learn
about our environmental problems.
- (Photograph 4) Our most recent project was to make small environmental
posters to post around town. We had fun making them, and hope they will
raise awareness of the environment in Shijak.
- Now that school
is starting we are hoping to gain more members to our small group. We
are working on presentations to give to the schools about all the fun
we've been having.
~ Thanks to Libby Horwitz for this great update (and awesome activity ideas) ! ~
